About Silicon Group

A family-led group of six companies that has made the magnetic cores of electric motors since 1968.

Our story

Silicon began in 1967 as Silicon Electricals, a workshop of eight people in Worli, Mumbai, making laminations for welding transformers. Over the following decades we added notching and progressive presses, German tooling, rotor die casting, and in 1983 brought interlocking technology to India for the first time.

In 1997 manufacturing moved to Goa under Silicon Cortech. Since then the group has grown into six specialist companies: Cortech for laminations, stators and rotors; Stamptech for helical cores; Castech for aluminium die casting; Motortech for wound stators and fans; Tooltech for prototypes and stamped parts; and Tradetech for global supply.

Today the group employs more than 250 people across more than 10,000 square metres of manufacturing and testing facilities, and exports to customers worldwide.
